Teresa’s Story

What brought you into Preferred PT?
Well I fell at the gym and had sprained my right ankle. When I first arrived, I didn’t know how to walk on my crutches. Alyssa evaluated me and showed me how to walk on these crutches.

What was and how bad was your problem prior to receiving physical therapy?
I could not walk very far and I was in constant pain. From a 1 to 10, my pain was a 15. I could no longer go to the gym and do my Zumba or strength classes. I said ‘I cannot handle this, I need to get back’.

Did you try anything else prior to PT?
The only thing I used was Aleve at night. I iced as well.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing pain but skeptical about PT?
If you come into physical therapy and you just want them to do everything and you do not follow or help yourself, you’re never going to achieve your goals.

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?
My experience here was awesome. Everytime I walk in here, everybody knows my name, everyone is so friendly, and they really want you to get back to what you were doing before you got injured. Any exercises I did, they printed them out and could do them at home also, which really helped a lot.

What were you wanting to achieve with PT?
The goal that I achieved here was becoming mobile and throwing those crutches away. That was my goal and I did become mobile. That is the best thing that happened to me- coming here. I’m going on vacation, but when I get back in October I’m going to try Zumba.
