Low Back Pain

Low back is something nearly everyone has or will experience in their lifetime. It has been reported that nearly 85% of people will have low back pain painful enough to pursue treatment of some kind. Low back pain has been heavily researched and evidence shows the combination of manual therapy, mobilizations and exercise is a more effective treatment program than any singular form of treatment.

Manual Therapy

Manual Therapy is a term that relates to “hands on” treatments performed by an expert physical therapist. This can include joint and soft tissue mobilizations or manipulation of the joints in the spine or extremities, and massage, stretching, or various other forms of hands on treatment. Research shows patients get the most benefit out of physical therapy when exercise is combined with manual treatment.

Chronic Pain

The management of chronic pain is very individual. No two cases will respond the same way. It is important that a physical therapist has the time to listen to you and make sure your goals are met and exceeded. At Preferred Physical Therapy, we are willing to take that time with you and we will get you happy, healthy and active!

Vestibular Dysfunction or Vertigo

Yes, physical therapy can help you with your dizziness. Vestibular rehabilitation uses manual techniques and exercises to treat the inner ear and vestibular system which often cause feelings of dizziness, poor balance, nausea and spinning sensations. This also includes physical therapy for fall prevention and balance retraining.

Neck and Shoulder Pain

Neck pain is a serious condition that has become more and more common over the years. The combination of desk jobs and poor posture can cause a lot of strain on the neck muscles. This strain causes the muscles to be tight which will decrease mobility and could pinch nerves. This posturing also affects the shoulders, causing pain with reaching overhead, behind your back. The skilled therapists at Preferred Physical Therapy are experts at relaxing the muscles surrounding the spine to improve movement in the neck and shoulders and decrease your pain.

Headaches and Pinched Nerves

Research has shown that most headaches are caused by muscle strain in the neck. When tense, these muscles create pain throughout the head and neck creating a lot of discomfort. Often times through physical therapy, headaches can be remedied and many preventative exercises will be taught as a defense against those nasty headaches returning.

Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN) for Myofascial Pain

Trigger point dry needling is a treatment for muscular tightness and spasm which commonly follows injuries and often accompanies the degenerative processes. Thin, solid filament needles are inserted into the muscle’s trigger point to help it to relax, lengthen and decrease pain. A trigger point is an area in the muscle that is painful to the touch and can sometimes radiate or spread the painful sensation. A trigger point is a collection of muscle tissue caught in a state of constant contraction causing tension, less movement and pain. The use of needles to these trigger points is a way to help the muscle relax, lengthen and return to a less painful state.

Repetitive Use injuries

Today, many jobs and sports include repetitive movement over long periods of time, stressing the same body parts over and over and day after day. This pattern creates muscle and structural imbalances in the body which can lead to wear and tear, also known as degenerative changes, to the body. This will lead to inflammation and when not treated early can lead to chronic conditions which are more difficult to treat. Early intervention is key to a rapid and full recovery.

Auto Accident injuries and Worker’s Compensation

The physical trauma resulting from an auto accident or work injury can have lasting effects on your overall health. Getting effective treatment early is key to your best recovery. At Preferred Physical Therapy we make your experience stress free and effective by providing quality care in a comfortable environment.

Total Joint Replacement Care

Knee and hip replacement are the most common kind of joint replacement surgery and effective in relieving osteoarthritis. Many surgical centers will offer in house physical therapy which can be easy but are often very busy. If you have a referral for physical therapy you can seek care from any physical therapy clinic. Make sure you know what level of care you can expect from the clinic you choose. At Preferred Physical Therapy, getting you back to the things you enjoy most is our top priority. We dedicate the time necessary to give you the personal attention you need after surgery to get you back to your “on the go” lifestyle.

Work Related/On the Job Injuries

Occupational injuries and care can be a lengthy process. It requires regular communication between physician, case manager and physical therapist to ensure a seamless rehab experience. At Preferred Physical Therapy, we have the infrastructure necessary to facilitate this exchange. We understand the importance of getting you back to work without pain or physical limitation.
