Jim’s Story

How long did you wait before deciding on physical therapy and what was the obstacle?
Well, I had just had a reconstruction on my left knee, which I’d had replaced twice.

What was and how bad was your problem prior to receiving physical therapy?
It felt like I had some grains of salt right in the front knee cap because because every time I would stand up or sit down… oh my goodness the pain!

What was your pain preventing you from doing?
There were a lot of things that I just didn’t do because the up and down was unbearable, at times. To the point that, if I didn’t stretch it out before I got up, I would stumble and fall on my face.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing pain but skeptical about physical therapy?
Sometimes there’s pain but there’s always pain with getting better. Some of it is even fun! There’s quite a bit of it that you’re like, ‘Uh, really? This is stupid.” But it isn’t! Everybody was just terrific in here. It’s a real fun place to get better.

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?
Everybody is so sociable, everyone is so knowledgeable in the work that they do… or the work that they need to get YOU to do.

What were you wanting to achieve and did we help you to achieve it?
To have no pain in that knee like I had before, which I don’t now.

What to Watch Out For:

Pain scale: 6/10
Pain description: Constant ache and burning in knee joint
Worse with:
  • Difficult to walk
  • Trouble standing
  • Couldn’t sit too long
Better with:
  • Rest
