Jeff’s Story

How long did you wait before deciding on physical therapy?
It was about three or four weeks. I wasn’t really sure what was going on. At first I thought it may have been more internal organs or something. I was going through the doctor first , I don’t go to doctors very often, so it was a matter of working through the process and the time.

What was and how bad was your problem before coming to Preferred Physical Therapy?
Central back pain that radiated an electric pain through my side, where I thought it was something with my stomach almost.

What was your back pain causing you to miss out on?
I normally walk a couple miles every night and also cycle on the weekends and I couldn’t do that for almost an entire month. It was just really annoying.

Did you try anything else that didn’t work?
I tried doing some heat, some ice, someone had a tens unit so I played around with that a little bit. It seemed to help a little but it just wasn’t getting better fast enough.

What would you say to someone who was hesitant on getting physical therapy?
I would recommend physical therapy. I would put it as a difference from chiropractor type therapy because I’ve never had much regard for that. It seemed more of a manipulation without instruction. This is more instructive. You can carry it home and do the techniques at home to continue to improve as much as you want to.

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to PPT, what did you enjoy the most?
Learning how to push through some kind of perception of pain. Talking to professionals and finding out the best way to attack the problem was something that I really enjoyed.

What were you wanting to achieve and did we help you to achieve it?
I wanted to get back to my normal regime of walking every night and cycling and I’m back to doing both of those things so I’m happy.
