Diana’s Story

How long did you wait before deciding to seek a physical therapist? What was the obstacle?
It was about a few months. It was just scheduling conflicts. The decision was easy once the doctor said she recommended physical therapy.

What was your problem and how bad was it prior to coming to Preferred Physical Therapy?
It was pretty bad. I couldn’t lift my arm, I couldn’t comb my hair or put my clothes on using my left arm so it was pretty frozen.

What was your shoulder pain causing you to miss out on?
A lot, I mean just basics. Taking a shower, washing my hair, putting clothing on and sleeping were all difficult. It was pretty painful at night as well.

Did you try anything else that didn’t work?
Lots of Advil.

What was your understanding of PT prior to your treatment here?
I have been to physical therapy one other time and I had successful results. When they made the recommendation for physical therapy for my shoulder, I didn’t have any reservations at all.

What would you say to someone who was in pain but skeptical on getting physical therapy?
I would say come. You guys are awesome. It’s a family atmosphere, you have the patient in mind at all times and I would fully recommend friends and family come here.

What did you enjoy most about coming to PPT?
Truthfully, the downtime of totally decompressing from outside. Having the heat, relaxation and having time to just focus on myself.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing pain but hesitant on coming to pt?
Don’t be. If there’s any discomfort you are listened to and the exercises do work. It is for the benefit of helping you heal. I don’t see any negatives in terms of coming to physical therapy. They give you exercise programs to do at home so you can continue your therapy in the comfort of your home.

What was your goal and did we help you to achieve it?
Yes. My goal was to do my hair and wash my hair and it may not look like it right now, but I can do that now. I am able to raise my hands over my head. So thank you for that.
