Cathy’s Story

What brought you into Preferred PT?
I had a knee replacement and it didn’t go well. I had already given up when my doctor recommended that I come here to see Nick. I was sort of hesitant because I had already gone through physical therapy and it just didn’t work for me. I had low expectations because I had gone through that and I thought “Oh I’m gonna go and they’re going to do the same thing and I’m not going to get any better.”

How was the injury impacting your life?
I was at a point where I couldn’t walk, I couldn’t get up over a curb. Everything was really difficult. I couldn’t stand for very long, I was just a mess. I had already given up because I thought “Oh gosh, this is how I’m going to be for the rest of my life.”

What was your physical therapy experience like?
I was real faithful about doing all of my exercises at home, coming here, I didn’t miss a session. I looked forward to it. I knew that every time I would come, it just got easier and easier as I was going. It’s been wonderful for me! It really has. It’s been a miracle really.

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?
Anything that I asked, they were always willing to go above and beyond what I expected. With explanations, with making sure I was doing things correctly. They were always willing to help me.

Do you recommend PPT?
I have had friends that have seen me actually moving and they say “oh boy, you’re really doing good”. And I always say yes, and if you ever need physical therapy, THIS is the place to come.

Did we help you to achieve your goals?
I have a two year old granddaughter and I can actually sit on the floor and play with her. Where before, I knew that if I sat on the floor, I wouldn’t be able to get up. We’re looking forward to the weather cooling down because we’re all going bike riding! Things that I thought I was never going to be able to do, I look forward to doing now. I went back to, part time, working at a school with a bunch of little ones. I’m enjoying it, I’m able to walk with them, where before I thought I would never be able to do that again. So, I’ve really, really come a long way.
