April’s Story

What was and how bad was your problem prior to receiving physical therapy?
I pulled a hamstring. I had been to see my chiropractor but that didn’t really help with the muscle pull.

What was your pain preventing you from doing?
It was fine walking but if I had to jog to catch a light, it would drop me to my knees in pain.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing pain but skeptical about physical therapy?
I would tell them to definitely come in and give it a shot. They definitely need to come in because there is so much here that can be done, more here and then teaching you how to do work at home, too.

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?
The fact that you offer cupping and needling is awesome. And everybody listened really well to your problem to help guide you in the right direction. And it’s really relaxed and low-key here, which I like.

What were you wanting to achieve and did we help you to achieve it?
I wanted to be able to, if the light changed, run to catch it and yesterday, I went jogging.

What to Watch Out For:

Pain scale: 7-9/10
Pain description: Sharp, but also deep and achy most of the time
Worse with:
  • Running, quick change in pace
  • Sitting on firm surfaces for more than 30 minutes
  • Stretching the hamstring too long
Better with:
  • Rest and ice
  • Shortening my stride when walking and running
