Dr. Castro’s Story

How long did you wait before deciding on physical therapy and what was the obstacle?

It didn’t take me too long to go to my doctors and see what kind of options I had and they recommended physical therapy.

What was and how bad was your problem prior to receiving physical therapy?

I was experiencing leg pain after a motor vehicle accident.

What was your pain preventing you from doing?

I was getting a little restricted with my daily living activities. I was so stiff and in pain, I was not enjoying being able to exercise or run. Even at work, it would be uncomfortable.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing pain but skeptical about physical therapy?

Physical therapy worked. Just go ahead and try it. You won’t regret it!

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?

I was actually surprised at how much it helped me. I didn’t think it was going to be this effective. I have much less pain. I am much more flexible. My gait has changed. My posture has changed. I am even more aware of what exercises I can do to keep feeling well.

What were you wanting to achieve and did we help you to achieve it?

I’d rather work on something that isn’t pharmacologically driven, like taking a medication for the pain that I was experiencing. I thought that physical therapy would be a no pill way to deal with my problem.

What to Watch Out For:

Pain scale: 6-8/10
Pain description: Dull ache along the back of the neck and into the shoulder blades
Worse with:
  • Looking down to check on patients
  • turning head to check blind spots while driving
Better with:
  • Heat and rest
