Bev’s Story
What was your problem prior to coming to get treatment with us?
A lot of neuropathy in my right foot and some in my left and my left leg is weak. Consequently I’ve been walking with a cane for the past year and a half. I felt that I couldn’t be helped anymore with physical therapy, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
How bad was your low back pain prior to coming to our clinic?
Well it was so bad that even walking with a cane I was hesitant. When I first would get up I would feel kind of frozen and I’d just have to stand there.
What was your low back pain preventing you from doing?
Just being able to walk confidently. Going up and down curbs was difficult for me. Since I’ve been coming here I’ve gained a lot more confidence. In fact, I don’t use a cane around the house anymore.
Did you have an idea of what physical therapy could do for you prior to coming in to the clinic?
Well I always felt that physical therapy was good no matter what. I’ve had it for my knee surgery, back surgery, my shoulder and it’s always helped me. But you people are the best.
What did you enjoy the most about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy?
Well I enjoyed the people, number 1, and being able to see how much I’ve improved. It was a joyful experience.
What would you say to anyone who was in pain but skeptical about physical therapy?
I would say that they definitely need to try it. Whenever I hear people say that they’ve gone to physical therapy and they only went a couple of times because it wasn’t helping them, I know that they didn’t give it a good shot. You need to have several times to see an improvement. And along with the physical therapy you need to practice at home. You can’t just do it here.
What was your goal and did we help you to achieve it?
My number one thing, like I said, is to be walking with a cane confidently. Being able to walk without it, maybe not in public, but at least around the house has been wonderful. Everything has improved since I’ve been here.
