Phyllis’s Story

How long did you wait before making the decision to come to physical therapy?
I waited until I couldn’t tolerate the pain any longer.

What was the obstacle in coming to see a physical therapist?
I just felt that I was going to get better on my own with my own exercises.

What was your problem prior to getting treatment?
I have osteoarthritis in my right knee and the pain was shooting down into my lower leg.

What was your osteoarthritis causing you to miss out on?
Everything. I couldn’t even process things because the pain was so bad. I couldn’t do things in the kitchen, walk or do any exercises.

Did you have any prior understanding of what physical therapy could do for you before coming to Preferred PT?
I had physical therapy at a different clinic two years ago and they didn’t do anything except watch me exercise. They never worked with me or challenged me or did any hands on, one on one treatment.

After receiving treatment at Preferred, what would you say to anyone experiencing knee pain but hesitant on getting physical therapy?
I would recommend that they come talk to Nick regarding their problem, to see what they can do to get better. I was skeptical at first but now I am very thankful.

What did you enjoy most about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy?
That it is a smaller facility and that they provide hands on treatment. Everyone works together as a team and you are welcomed from the front door.

What were you wanting to achieve by coming here and did we help you to achieve it?
Yes, I wanted to be able to walk. Now I am walking without pain and I feel like I can take my six month trip now. We’re going down the East Coast of Canada and to St. Augustine and I think by maintaining my daily exercises that I can accomplish that.

Pain description: Shooting pain from the knee down into the lower leg
Worse with:
  • Walking
  • Laying flat/ straight
