Lois’s Story

When did you start your physical therapy journey?
The very first time I came here was probably about 6 years ago when the doctor’s office right around the corner from here referred me.

What was your problem and how bad was it prior to physical therapy?
I was getting stress fractures in my foot and they eventually found out I had aneurysmal bone cysts. I ended up having eight surgeries over the course of six years due to abnormal veins in my left leg. My foot was so sensitive I could barely stand to have a shoe on. In coming here, Nick was able to desensitize my foot to help with the healing.

What was your foot pain causing you to miss out on?
I ended up losing my job. I used to walk a lot and hike a lot and I couldn’t do either of those.

Did you try anything else that didn’t help?
I was just taking pain medications to knock the pain.

Did you have an understanding of physical therapy before coming here?
Yes, I’ve been in the medical field since 1981 so I knew about physical therapy.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing foot pain but skeptical about physical therapy?
Of course definitely get it checked out. If you needed a place to go for PT, this is definitely the place.

What did you enjoy the most about coming to Preferred PT?
That the technicians knew exactly what they were doing. And also, the feeling that you’re comfortable here.

What was your goal and did our team help you to achieve it?
During the whole process, over the six years, I was a caregiver for my late husband. He passed away two years ago. Since that time, my foot has completely healed and I have no pain, nothing at all. Last May I got engaged and then got married in July and we’re going dancing every weekend, riding Harley’s, going horseback riding, doing a lot of walking and hiking. I’m definitely a lot more active than I was before I started coming here, so thank you.
