Keith’s Story

What was and how bad was your shoulder problem before coming to physical therapy?
I thought I was 18 years old and went into the gym and did a whole bunch of bench presses. I started to feel pain in my left shoulder and I decided to man up and work harder. The next morning I couldn’t lift my arm.

What was your shoulder pain causing you to miss out on?
Before receiving help from PPT, I wasn’t able to do any kind of daily activities. Actually, it was so bad that I was having a hard time driving my car with my left arm or turning my blinker on because I couldn’t lift my arm. It was really starting to affect everything. Even sitting down, I couldn’t rest my arm comfortably.

What would you say to someone who was experiencing pain but hesitant on coming to physical therapy?
Oh I’d tell them immediately go. You know, I lost two weeks. I would have already been recovered two weeks more in advance than I am right now. Don’t stop. Don’t delay. Don’t dilly-dally.

Out of all the things that you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?
I like the environment, you know, everyone’s kind of chatty and there were always good discussions, and everybody gets along so well. It was kid of like a family environment. Hanging out with the guys was always fun. I always looked forward to coming!

What were you hoping to achieve and did we help you to achieve it?
I wanted to gain full range of motion in my shoulder. Now I can laterally raise my shoulder which I couldn’t do before so everything is fine. Now I’ll go back to the gym and hopefully I won’t screw it back up. I’ll take things lightly. If it hurts, don’t do it; that’s the motto!
