Jordan’s Story

How long did you wait before coming to Preferred Physical Therapy?
A little over a year.

What was the obstacle in coming to physical therapy?
I went to see my primary care doctor and he said “I’m going to refer to you to physical therapy but before we do that, I want to get an MRI scan of your knee and have you see an orthopedic doctor”. The orthopedic doctor was very dismissive of the situation and said that my problem was that I’m 81 years old and that I should get used to it.

How bad was your knee problem prior to receiving treatment?
I noticed some pain in my knee towards the top of the knee cap. It wasn’t primarily a knee problem. It was a weakness in my thighs and hips and when I tried to strengthen them, that caused my knee to hurt. I decided I needed to do something about it.

What was your weakness limiting you from doing throughout the day?
Getting out of a soft, cushioned seat or picking something up off of the ground, I needed to use my arms to help me.

What would you say to someone who was suffering from knee pain, but skeptical about physical therapy?
That they would be foolish not to. I came here and found out even if you’re 81 years old, you don’t have to live with the pain.

Out of all the things you enjoyed about coming to Preferred Physical Therapy, what did you enjoy the most?
The attitude of the people that were working with me.

What were you wanting to achieve and did we help you to achieve it?
The number one thing was the ability to have greater strength so that I didn’t have to go through what I was going through before I came here. That has been resolved.
